Kusama for Louis Vuitton at Selfridges, London

By Emmy Lee | Posted on October 4th, 2012

Luxury goods giant Louis Vuitton has created extraordinarily well-received collaborations with artists like Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami but apparently it’s latest venture with Yayoi Kusama, one of Japan’s most important contemporary artists, is its most successful to date. Both sides of the partnership have gone the extra mile at Selfridges, London where Kusama has commandeered the windows and special project space, the Concept Store. Her signature organic patterns repeating ad infinitum, her bold signature colours, and her never-ending polka dots create an overwhelming installation that seem more art exhibition than commercial display. Kusama’s take-over of Selfridges will be on view until October 19, 2012 – worth checking out if you’re in London.
