Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans

It’s been a full fifty years since Andy Warhol created his iconic 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans – cheekily embracing commercialism and smashing the snobbery of much art to that point. The exhibition of this installation – 32 canvases consisting of paintings of individual soup cans – reportedly marked the West Coast debut of Pop Art. To mark this important work, Campbell’s and the Andy Warhol Foundation, have created a limited edition version of Campbell’s trademark tomato soup cans with labels recalling Warhol’s boldly coloured screenprints. The special 10.75oz cans were released at Target stores across the United States on September 2, 2012 – hurry to snag yours.
